KAUFMAN ENDOWMENT WILL NOW FUND TWO AWARDS; NOMINATIONS DUE TODAY
The Kaufman Prize endowment, which has funded a $5,000 annual award to an outstanding graduating senior for several years, will now support a $10,000 first prize and a $5,000 runner-up cash award, starting in May.
The prize was establish to reward a graduating senior "who has exerted an exceptional and constructive influence on the university, its students or the community by demonstrating the highest qualities of leadership and service." Up to 10 students are selected each year for Kaufman Honors. This year's honorees will be recognized at the Honors and Awards Banquet May 4.
Faculty, staff and alumni may nominate students for the award. To qualify for consideration, a student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and an exceptional record of service. Graduates from August 1999, December 1999 and May 2000 are eligible for consideration this year.
Nominations are due Tuesday, Feb. 29. Letters of nomination should be sent to Cindy Portorreal, 2008 Webb Center. Nomination forms can be found at: www.odu.edu/~sbh/kaufman.htm.
