INDIA-PAKISTANI CONFLICT IS DISCUSSION TOPIC AT MARCH 1 SESSION
The conflict between Pakistan and India will be the subject of a lecture by former U.S. Ambassador Robert Oakley at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, in the Burgess Room of the Batten Arts and Letters Building at Old Dominion.
Oakley, who has served as ambassador to Pakistan, Zaire and Somalia, will give a talk on security in India and Pakistan. His appearance is sponsored by the Center for Regional and Global Study and the Institute of Asian Studies.
After 34 years of public service, Oakley became associated with the United States Institute of Peace in 1992. The same year, he was named by President Bush as special envoy to Somalia.
Since 1995, Oakley has been a senior fellow at the Institute for National Strategic Studies of National Defense University.
