FILIPINO-AMERICAN POETRY FOCUS OF SESSIONS FEB. 25

Nick Carbo, currently visiting poet at the University of Pittsburgh, will be on the Old Dominion campus Friday, Feb. 25, for a lecture and reading as part of the Manuel Viray Filipino-American Lecture Series.

The author of two books of poetry, "El Grupo McDonald's" and "Secret Asian Man," Carbo will give a lecture on Filipino-American writing, titled "The Seduction of Filipino Tongues," at 12:30 p.m. in the Burgess Room of the Batten Arts and Letters Building.

At 4 p.m., Carbo will join Old Dominion poets Gary Short, Luisa Igloria and Jon Pineda for a poetry reading, "Speaking in Tongues," at the Filipino-American Student Cultural Center.
