UNIVERSITY RELATIONS STAFF MEMBER WINS PRESS AWARD IN WILLIAMSBURG
Jay Lidington, a public relations specialist in the Office of University Relations, was a first-place award winner at last weekend's Virginia Press Association Awards Banquet at the Williamsburg Marriott.
Lidington, a former sportswriter for The Virginian-Pilot, won first place in the sports news story category along with Pilot columnist Tom Robinson and writer Rich Radford for a news package titled "Private Issues: Are Some Schools Recruiting Players?"
The package, which was published early last year, examined practices of Hampton Roads' private school basketball programs.
