OLD DOMINION HEADED FOR NORTHERN VA. ON ANNUAL BUS TOUR

Old Dominion University President James V. Koch and more than 60 faculty, administrators and students will board a bus and head to Northen Virginia today for the university's annual fall bus tour.

Old Dominion faculty will teach high school classes at several Northern Virginia schools Friday, Nov. 5, on topics and subjects including volcanoes, Spanish, ocean exploration, journalism, law, artificial intelligence and American history. The faculty will visit Annandale High School, Centreville High School in Clifton, Edison High School and Hayfield Secondary in Alexandria, and Potomac Falls High School in Sterling.

President Koch will give his "Life After High School" talk to high school students at two schools, discussing industrial and technological advances over the past three decades. He will speak from 8:40-9:40 a.m. at Potomac Falls High School and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Annandale High School.

The Old Dominion group will host an admissions reception for prospective students and their families from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Tysons Corner Marriott in Vienna. The reception is free and open to the public.

President Koch initiated the annual bus tour soon after arriving at Old Dominion in 1990 as a way to meet Virginia residents and help them become more familiar with the university. Previous tours have visited Lynchburg, Staunton, Fredericksburg, Roanoke and the Eastern Shore.
