CNN LEGAL ANALYST GRETA VAN SUSTEREN TO SPEAK TONIGHT

CNN legal analyst Greta Van Susteren will discuss "Looking at the News Through the Eyes of the Law" Thursday, Nov. 11, as part of the President's Lecture Series at Old Dominion University.

Van Susteren's talk will begin at 8 p.m. in the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Science Building Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Co-host of CNN's daily half-hour show "Burden of Proof" with Roger Cossack, Van Susteren has provided commentary and analysis since 1991 for CNN on such high-profile cases as the William Kennedy Smith and O.J. Simpson trials. More recently, she was an analyst for the network's coverage of President Clinton's impeachment trial and numerous Supreme Court decisions.

During her career as a trial attorney, Van Susteren represented clients in both criminal and civil cases, breaking records in civil verdicts in two counties in two states. Her trials have ranged from murder, racketeering and death penalty cases to divorce, product liability and patent/contract cases. She has argued appeals in federal appellate courts and the highest courts in several states.

Van Susteren received a bachelor's degree in economics, with distinction, from the University of Wisconsin. She earned her law degree and master of laws in trial advocacy from Georgetown Law Center, where she has been an adjunct law professor since 1981. She also was the first Stuart Stiller Fellow at Georgetown Law Center.
