Best-selling business author Bob Nelson will speak Thursday, Dec. 2, as part of the "Lessons in Leadership Employee Developmental Series" distinguished speakers program. Sponsored by Old Dominion University's Darden College of Education and Center for Global Business and Executive Education, the program will be held in two sessions, 8:30 � 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 � 4:30 p.m., at the Downtown Norfolk Waterside Marriott.
Nelson's talk, "The Rewards of Recognition: How to Generate the Energy Your Organization Needs," will explore topics such as how to build morale and motivate everyone in your organization; how to remain positive when your co-workers make a mistake; how everyone can make a contribution, do a good job, get involved and be appreciated; and how to meet the 21st century challenge--attracting, motivating and retaining employees.
His book "1,001 Ways to Reward Employees and 1,001 Ways to Energize Employees" was on Business Week's best-sellers list for more than 44 months. A recent Costco Online survey of 2.5 million business owners ranked Nelson's book as the most helpful and inspirational business book.
