1999 LITERARY FESTIVAL BEGINS TODAY

The 1999 Old Dominion University Literary Festival, titled "The Spirit of the Word," will kick off today with the Festival Prologue opening event featuring readings by local poets Jay Paul, Jane Ellen Glasser and Shelley Wagner. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, in room 100 Kaufman Hall.

The Literary Festival, sponsored by the Norfolk Commission on the Arts and Humanities, runs Oct. 11-15 and includes appearances by former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Rita Dove.
