"ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA" OPENS TONIGHT AT UNIVERSITY THEATRE

Old Dominion University Theatre brings William Shakespeare's epic historical tragedy, "Antony and Cleopatra," to the University Theatre stage this month under the direction of Christopher Hanna, theatre program director.

Two nationally prominent guest artists, costume designer Deborah Bell and text director Bonnie Raphael, have joined the company for the production.
"Shakespeare's sprawling epic is often considered his greatest achievement, but theatres rarely summon the resources necessary for its production," Hanna said.

A sumptuous production, the play will feature lavish costumes, flashing swords and a visually stunning set.

Play dates are Oct. 8-10, 14-17 and 21-24. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $10 general admission and $7.50 for students and groups. Old Dominion students are eligible for $5 advance and rush tickets. Call 683-5305 for more information and reservations or 683-4444 to pay by phone.
