UPCOMING VIRGINIA ELECTIONS TO BE FOCUS OF PRESIDENT'S LECTURE SERIES SEPT. 16

A "Panel Discussion on Upcoming Virginia Elections" will kick off Old Dominion University's President's Lecture series at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, in the Mills Godwin Jr. Life Sciences Building Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Four experts on political issues will comprise the panel. Robert D. Holsworth is professor of political science and public administration and director of the Center for Public Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University. He has written four books and numerous articles on American politics, and has appeared on national television and radio news programs. Holsworth received the 1997 State Council
of Higher Education for Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award.

Delegate Kenneth R. Plum is chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia and
a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, 36th district. An Old Dominion alumnus, Plum has served nearly 20 years as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, and recently retired as director of adult and community education for Fairfax County Public Schools after nearly 30 years of service.

Mark J. Rozell is an associate professor of politics and director of the graduate program in congressional studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He is the author of eight books and the editor of nine books. Rozell has appeared as a political commentator on most major network news programs and his opinion-editorial essays have appeared in major daily newspapers throughout the country.

Delegate Leo C. Wardrup Jr. is chairman of the House Republican Caucus and
a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, 83rd district. A self-employed financial analyst, Wardrup retired from U.S. Navy in 1986 and was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1991.
