"TOTAL ARMY DAY" TO FEATURE ARMY ADVENTURE VAN SEPT. 14
The Army Adventure Van, a U.S. Army interactive exhibit featuring state-of-the-art technology, will be the highlight of Old Dominion University's Total Army Day Tuesday, Sept. 14. This informational fair marks the first time the Adventure Van has been exhibited on a college campus.
Designed to provide high school and college students information about Old Dominion and specifically its Army ROTC program, Total Army Day will feature displays, interactive technology demonstrations and informational booths. It will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Kaufman Mall and is open to the public.
In the Adventure Van, participants can simulate flying an attack Cobra or Apache helicopter, try on night-vision goggles, navigate with a Global Positioning System, test their marksmanship with a computerized M-16, and climb into the turret of an Abrams Main Battle Tank. The van also features videos on Army life, basic training and Army occupations.
Visitors to Total Army Day can also view a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter, an M2-Bradley fighting vehicle and an M198 Towed Howitzer.
