PIANIST SANTIAGO RODRIGUEZ WILL OPEN CONCERT SERIES ON SEPT. 27
Santiago Rodriguez, named by the Baltimore Sun as "among the finest pianists in the world," will give a solo recital at 8 p.m.
Sept. 27 in Chandler Recital Hall, Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.
The concert is free, but seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Rodriguez has performed with the world's
leading orchestras, including the London Symphony, Dresden Staatskapelle, Weimar Philharmonic and Yomiuri-Nippon
Orchestra.
In the U.S. he has performed with the Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, Baltimore, Seattle, Indianapolis and Houston
symphony orchestras, the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D. C., and the American Symphony Orchestra at
Avery Fisher Hall in New York.
He has appeared in recital at the Schauspielhaus in Berlin, Leipzig's Gewandhaus, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Montrea's
Theatre Maisonneuve, the Santander Festival in Spain, Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington,
D.C., the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, and in 1997, the prestigious Ravenna
Festival in Italy, where critics proclaimed that "he conquered the audience."
The Sept. 27 program is part of the F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series partnership with the Virginia Symphony.
