Old Dominion University’s Ebony Impact Gospel Choir Celebrates 40th Anniversary

The Ebony Impact Gospel Choir, established in 1977, was one of the first African American student organizations on Old Dominion's campus, and now it's become one of the largest, with more than 30 members.
Ebony Impact is known for performing vibrant expressions of faith through song and dance. This year, the choir is celebrating 40 years of success in conjunction with Black History Month. Their annual festival will be Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the North Café of Webb University Center.
"It's an outlet where we can come together, have fun and worship outside classes. We bond and become family," said Meshon Davis, the Ebony Impact Gospel Choir's business manager.
Other upcoming events include:
- February 13 - "Christian Mingle." Games, food, fellowships, speed dating. President's Dining Room, 7:00 p.m.
- February 14 - "Choir Rehearsal." Guests are welcome to watch. Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center, 7:15 p.m.
- February 15 - "Game Night." Presidents Dining Hall 7:00 p.m.
- February 16 - Community service during activity hour. House of Blue, 12:20 p.m.
- February 17 - "Glow Party" DJ, performances, activities, free food. Location/Time: The River Rooms, 7:00 p.m.
