How to Correct Campus Restriction Error Message

If you are registering for an online course and get a campus restriction error....

WHAT DOES THIS ERROR MEAN?
Online course sections are restricted based on student campus. The "Campus restriction" error means that the campus/location of the CRN/section you selected does not match your current campus assignment.

In Banner Registration, in the class schedule search results, expand the Meeting Times column to see the course location, or click on the Course Title link in the class search panel, to view the restrictions on the section.

HOW DO I FIX IT?
You need to select a different CRN. To find the correct CRN, go to Campus Restriction Errors and follow the directions to find your campus assignment, and see which online sections you may register for. (The URL is also provided in the registration error message.)

Then, go back to Registration and select a section that matches your campus assignment.

WHAT IS A CROSS-LISTED CLASS AND WHAT DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH CAMPUS RESTRICTIONS?

1. WEB(or WC)2/5/7/8 sections are grouped (cross-listed) sections -- same course, instructor, days/times (if synchronous) -- but assigned to different campuses.
2. Each individual section has a maximum capacity and the cross-list group has a maximum capacity. If the group capacity is reached, no further registration in any section is allowed, even though individual sections may appear to have seats available.
3. Instructors and advisors cannot override a campus restriction. You must select the correct CRN for your campus assignment.
4. If the cross-listed section for your campus offers a waitlist, add yourself to the waitlist. (You will not be able to waitlist a section that gives a campus restriction error.)
