<p> Deadline Extended to Sept 19th 2013 for Women&#39;s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD)</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Since 1996, the Women&#39;s Institute for Leadership Development at Old Dominion University has focused on developing the leadership skills of women students. The first module is scheduled for September 23rd.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Fall 2013 Modules</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Welcome/Orientation: The Call to Leadership Monday, September 23rd, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp; Participants learn about the &quot;call&quot; to leadership, meet their cohort, and will explore their values and what inspires them to be a leader.</p> <p> &nbsp; Facilitator: La Wanza Lett-Brewington</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> The Art of Team Building</p> <p> Monday, September 30th, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp; At the heart of most high performing organizations is a sense of commitment to the team. This experiential session will give participants the opportunity to demonstrate leadership and learn how these activities can positively impact individuals and groups.</p> <p> &nbsp; Facilitator: Suzan Thompson</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Women&#39;s Leadership Styles Monday, October 7th, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp; Women often bring special strengths, characteristics, and values to leadership. Using guided discussion and structured activities, students will explore these leadership styles and principles for leading authentically.</p> <p> &nbsp; Facilitator: La Wanza Lett-Brewington</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> The Journey</p> <p> Monday, October 21st, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp; Effective leadership requires skills in managing diversity of all types. This interactive dialog will challenge students to move beyond their leadership &quot;comfort zone&quot; through activities and reflection.</p> <p> &nbsp; Facilitator: Lesa Clark</p> <p> Strategies for Effective Communication</p> <p> Monday, October 28th, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp; Effective communication skills are important for any leader. This experiential workshop will focus on gender communication, communication styles, and the skills needed to be an effective communicator.</p> <p> &nbsp; Facilitator: Carla Harrell</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Balanced Leadership: Understanding when Leaders Fail Monday, November 4th, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp; This workshop focuses on what makes a great leader fall. The purpose of this workshop is highlight how unresolved issues can become barriers to success. Through discussion and personal reflection activities participants will determine what some of their internal barriers might be and create action steps for how to address them. Facilitator: Crista Gambrell</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Build Your Stairway to Success: Women&#39;s Career Development Monday, November 11th, 2:00PM-4:00PM Cape Charles Room, Webb Center</p> <p> &nbsp; Today it takes a lot of planning and negotiating to enhance your career development and opportunities.
