OCCS System Testing, Sunday March 3

The Office of Computing and Communication Services (OCCS) will be conducting a Disaster Recovery (DR) test this Sunday, March 3, 2013. The DR test is part of Old Dominion University’s ongoing emergency preparedness efforts.

The DR test will be conducted during the normal OCCS systems maintenance window of Sunday, 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.

During the test, there will be two very brief (10 seconds or less) service disruptions to the following services.

myODU Portal

Blackboard

Adobe Connect

Perception

These service disruptions will be very brief but have the potential to terminate active sessions. This means that work in progress for exams in Blackboard or Perception could be lost when the brief outage occurs. As such, we encourage you to avoid scheduling or taking an exam in either Blackboard or Perception during the DR test and to frequently save work in Blackboard if you are logged into the system this Sunday morning.

OCCS will post an announcement at www.occs.odu.edu once the DR test is concluded and all services are fully operational again. If you have any questions, please contact the OCCS Technical Support Center at occshelp@odu.edu or 757-683-3192.
