Bonner, Esq. titled “Scholarly Publishing Agreements: What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You, Your University and Your Peers.” The event will be held at the Old Dominion University Libraries on Thursday, October 31, 2013, from 12:30-1:30 pm in Learning Commons Conference Rooms 1310-1311. Light refreshments will be served. </p> <p style="margin: 9px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); line-height: 18px; "> This lecture will address issues relevant to those interested in publishing in academic and scholarly publications. Topics will include agreements pertaining to publishing theses and dissertations, retaining intellectual property rights, and open access publishing options. </p> <p style="margin: 9px 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; color: rgb(68, 68, 68); line-height: 18px; "> Kimberly M. Bonner is a creative, innovative leader with over 15 years of experience solving critical, complex problems for constituents and clients involving intellectual property management. Ms. Bonner’s IP management consulting includes patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright; however, she is most well known for her expertise on digital copyright issues that impact higher education. Ms. Bonner has also worked for over 12 years in higher education consulting and advising higher education institutions and staff of a variety of issues related to e-learning, digital libraries, MOOCs, open access and licensing issues. She was the primary editor and contributing author of <em style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; font: inherit; ">The Center for Intellectual Property Handbook</em>. Ms. Bonner has presented at several leading national and regional conferences including: EDUCAUSE, Sloan Consortium, Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center Roundtable and Howard Law School’s IP Empowerment Summit.
