Black History Month, also known as Black Heritage Month &amp; African American History (Heritage) Month is a national celebration and observance highlighting aspects of American culture that are often marginalized. The 2013 Black History Month theme is <strong>At the Crossroads of Freedom and Equality: The Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington.</strong></p> <p align="center"> <strong><u>Black History Month Calendar of Events</u></strong></p> <p> <strong>January</strong></p> <p> <strong>&nbsp;&ldquo;School Desegregation: Learn, Preserve and Empower&rdquo;</strong> a collaborative history project, formed a partnership with AARP Virginia, Virginia Conference NAACP, and the Urban League of Virginia to collect stories and historic documents detailing Virginia&rsquo;s historic journey toward the desegregation of its schools.</p> <ul> <li> <strong>Date:</strong> January 15 to February 14, 2013</li> <li> <strong>Location:</strong> Learning Commons at the Patricia W. and J.
