The CCPO and Institute for Coastal Adaptation and Resilience (ICAR) seminar next week will be given by Dr. Elizabeth Sciaudone from the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, North Carolina State University (flyer attached). Dr. Sciaudone’s current research is focused on vulnerability of coastal transportation systems to natural hazards, such as sea level rise and coastal flooding. Her seminar will present results from studies that address resiliency of transportation systems on the North Carolina barrier islands and the resiliency of the ferry system that serves the barrier islands. Dr. Sciaudone’s research has implications for resiliency of Hampton Roads transportation systems that are at risk from sea level rise and recurrent flooding.
Information about Dr. Sciaudone’s research is available at:

Dr. Tom Allen will host Dr. Sciaudone’s seminar. Please contact Dr. Allen (tallen@odu.edu) if you want to schedule time to talk with Dr. Sciaudone. There will be an informal discussion prior to the seminar starting at 3pm.
Please join via the seminar Zoom link above to join the informal discussion and attend the seminar.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the seminar.
