Minor in Arabic

A New Minor in Arabic

A minor in Arabic introduces students to the Arab world through learning the Arabic language. Arabic classes at ODU allow the students to explore authentic Arabic texts dealing with Middle Eastern literature, history, media, and politics of the region through the language spoken by its peoples. Starting from learning the alphabet in the beginner’s classes to more advanced Arabic classes that introduce the students to the area through authentic texts. Both Modern Standard Arabic and dialect are introduced in these classes to equip the students with adequate linguistic background to use in their careers or academic pursuits.

The beginners and intermediate classes are 6 credits each, while the 300 and 400 level classes are 3 credits. You can start your journey in Arabic as early as this spring.

The beginner’s class will also be offered in Summer of 2023.
