Join us for a showing of the stunning film, Ganden: A Joyful Land, followed by a very special Q&A with the director of the film, Ngawang Choephel on November 15th at 7:30pm at the Michael and Kimthanh Lê Digital Theater and Planetarium at ODU.
Endorsed by Richard Gere and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Ganden: A Joyful Land is a poignant tribute to the lives of the last remaining generation of Tibetan Buddhist monks to have studied at the renowned Ganden Monastery in Tibet. How do long-term refugees, such as Tibetans in India, sustain their cultural and religious identity in exile? Centering on Ganden Monastery—Tibet’s equivalent of the Vatican, this film takes a revealing and intimate look at the lives and remembrances of the last remaining generation of Tibetan Buddhist monks to have studied at the renowned Ganden Monastery in Tibet.
