Schedule Set For Conference USA Basketball Tournaments

The ODU men's basketball team (13-18, 9-9) will open play in the Conference USA Championship at the Ford Center at The Star with a first-round game on Wednesday, March 11 against Florida Atlantic (16-15, 8-10). Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CDT or 7 p.m. in Norfolk. The game will be available on ESPN+ and the ODU Sports Radio Network (ESPN Radio 94.1). The defending C-USA champion Monarach have knocked off Florida Atlantic twice this season, both times in Chartway Arena. ODU won 65-55 on Saturday, January 25 and then bested the Owls, 85-80 in overtime on Sunday, March 1. The winner of the ODU-FAU game will face regular-season champion North Texas (20-11, 14-4) at 7 p.m. EDT on Thursday in the quarterfinals. 

The ODU women's basketball team (24-6, 14-4) finished tied for second in the conference and earned the #2 seed in the tournament, also at the Ford Center. The Monarchs have a first-round bye and will begin play at 2:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 12 against the winner of Wednesday's contest between UTEP (15-14, 8-10) and Florida Atlantic (13-16, 7-11). The women faced Florida Atlantic twice during the regular season, winning 75-63 in Boca Roton in January and then winning again on February 26 in Norfolk, 60-49. In the only meeting with UTEP, the Monarchs knocked off the Miners, 77-69, in El Paso. The women's game will be carried by Stadium in addition to the ODU Sports Radio Network (ESPN Radio 94.1).
