What if the Moon Didn't Exist? - March 16
What if the Moon Didn’t Exist?
Dr. Neil Comins
March 16, 7:00 PM
Engineering and Computational Sciences Building – Room 1202
Asking “What if?” questions is a powerful tool for exploring virtually all aspects of the natural world. The Moon affects far more than just ocean tides; it has had a major influence on the length of the day, the seasons, the evolution and behavior of animals, and even on the weather. In this lecture, Neil F. Comins, professor of astronomy at the University of Maine and author of 21 books (including What if the Moon Didn’t Exist and What if the Earth had two moons?) will explore the staggering consequences for Earth and for ourselves if our Moon had never formed.
This event will take place instead of our regular planetarium show. No reservations needed.
For more about our movie schedule, you can check our website at www.odu.edu/planetarium. We have other exciting, special events each month. You can also check our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter (@ODUplanetarium) for more announcements and random astronomy fun.
