Baseball To Host Rutgers Over Three Days This Weekend

ODU baseball (9-2) will host its final non-conference weekend series by welcoming Big 10 opponent Rutgers to the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex for single games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The two teams have played regularly over the years and the Monarchs swept a three-game series from the Scarlet Knights last year in Norfolk. This season, ODU has one each of its first three weekend serieses, besting Towson (3-0), Holy Cross (2-1) and Yale (2-1). The first pitch will be at 3 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. 

The Monarchs have midweek games next week against Norfolk State and Campbell before opening Conference USA play with a home three-game series against Florida Atlantic (8-4). The Owls finished first in the 2019 conference race with a 22-8 record. Florida Atlantic, who upended Miami in its most recent game, was picked second in the Conference USA preseason poll and had four first-place votes. ODU was picked fourth.
