April 7-8, 2020
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

**Due to COVID-19, this workshop will be remote to desktop only.**

We have hosted the XSEDE Big Data workshop on campus in the past, but because of the current health epidemic, Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center has kindly converted this workshop to an online format. If you are interested in participating, please sign up here:

https://portal.xsede.org/course-calendar/-/training-user/class/2041/session/3664

Topics of the presentation will include:

  • Introduction to Hadoop and Spark framework for ingesting and processing big data
  • Introduction to machine learning using Spark
  • Introduction to deep learning using TensorFlow

The programming exercises use Python computer language. Please prepare your own laptop with SSH client to access PSC’s Bridges Supercomputer and expect to gain hands-on experience with several machine learning models! (If you need pointer for SSH client, please consider one of the choices listed here: https://deapsecure.gitlab.io/deapsecure-lesson01-hpc/setup.html .)

Registration deadline is April 3. Seats are limited, so please register early! The workshop is highly popular and seats are likely to sell out. If you register, please commit to attend the workshop--be considerate to others that may like to attend!
