Baseball Opens Conference USA Season At Home Against Defending Champ This Weekend

The ODU baseball team (12-2, 0-0) will open Conference USA play with a three-game series against the defending conference champion Florida Atlantic squad (9-6, 0-0). The Owls won the 2019 regular season title with a 22-8 league record. The Owls earned an at-large berth in the NCAA championship and were eliminated in the regional with losses to Florida State and Georgia. The 2020 edition of the Owls was picked second in the conference in the preseason poll. the 9-6 record includes a win over Miami and losses to Texas Tech, Florida and Florida State (2). 

ODU, who was picked fourth in the preseason poll, brings a four-game win streak into the week after sweeping three games from Rutgers last weekend. The Monarchs play Norfolk State Tuesday and Campbell Wednesday. 

Friday's first pitch will be at 6 p.m. as the Monarchs play the first night game of the season. Saturday's contest will start at 3 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. Tickets are $5 at the ticket gate, or $4 for youth (17 and under), seniors (55+) and retired or active military.
