Let's Talk About Our Dream: A Call to Action

As a part of ODU’s semester long commemoration of the 400th Anniversary of the first African landing in North America, under British rule, the College of Arts and Letters will host a series of lectures that concentrate the rich heritage of people of African descent as well as topics of structural racial injustice, inequality, stratification, social justice, progress and policy implications.  Panelists for each lecture includes faculty, students, and invited guests from the surrounding community, providing an unique opportunity to connect and engage the local community.

The first lecture will be on Tuesday, January 28th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the University Webb Center: Hampton/Newport News Room.  The program will be facilitated by Dr. Shuntay Tarver, assistant professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services.  Invited and confirmed panelists include,

Dr. Austin Agho, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Old Dominion University

Dr. L. Patton, City Manager, Portsmouth Virginia

Judge Jerrauld C. Jones, Circuit Court, Norfolk Virginia  

Dr. Janice Underwood, Chief Diversity Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Richmond Virginia

Isaiah Lucas, President - Student Government Association, Old Dominion University
