Library Tutorials to Help Your Student Succeed!

The ODU Libraries provide several interactive tutorials to assist your students with research assignments.

New this semester we are offering the Argumentative Essay Research Tutorial to support argumentative research and writing assignments. This interactive tutorial introduces students to selecting sources based on assignment guidelines and how to identify, find, and evaluate scholarly and general audience sources. This tutorial can be accessed via Blackboard and completed for a grade or can serve as point-of-need support. See the guide linked above to find out how students can enroll.

For entry-level courses with a research component, we provide the Research Fundamentals Tutorial. It provides a basic introduction to the services and resources provided by the ODU Libraries, as well as an introduction to: selecting a research topic, determining reliability of resources, understanding information in different formats, and how to find resources using Monarch OneSearch. The last section of the tutorial is a quiz. The quiz is designed so that students have to get an answer correct before they are allowed to go on to the next item. If you would like to require your students to complete the quiz, please email lrush@odu.edu for more information.

For information literacy general education courses we provide the Information Literacy & Research Tutorials. This tutorial can be accessed via Blackboard and completed for a grade or can serve as point-of-need support.  See your guide for how your students can enroll.

For Graduate Students who need a basic introduction to using the ODU Libraries resources and services, we offer the Graduate Student Library Introduction tutorial. We encourage you to include it in your syllabus or provide the link to it in your Blackboard Course.
