DCOE Associate Professor President of Interational Literacy Association

Associate Professor, Dr. Tami Al-Hazza, of Old Dominion University’s Darden College of Education has been elected President of the Association for Literacy Educators and Researchers, an international organization whose goal is motivating teachers and reading specialist to advance and develop themselves professionally.

Her five-year term consists of each year serving in a different role from Vice President, President Elect, President, Past President to Past Past President.

In deciding to run, Dr. Al-Hazza’s plans on “continuing the organization’s tradition of mentoring doctoral students and assistant professors just entering the profession, and help diversify the membership of the organization.”

Dr. Al-Hazza is delighted to serve in the position and notes “Having the opportunity to serve on the executive board for the next five years gives me the platform and the opportunity to influence teacher educators and policy development surrounding literacy issues.”

Al- Hazza’s term, begins in November 2016.
