Travel signatures on the spot:
If you plan to travel during the summer and return to continue your studies at Old Dominion University, you will need a travel signature on your visa document (and for your dependents, if applicable) in order to re-enter the United States.
If you cannot come on Wednesday, you can still drop off your I-20 or DS-2019 for a signature; processing of a travel signature takes up to 3 business days and we will email you when it's ready for pick-up. Be sure to fill out one of the pink post-it notes at our front desk with your UIN and date of departure.
Note: The VISA office recommends that your travel signature be no more that 6 months prior to your date of re-entry (i.e. if you plan on returning to the US on August 1st, you should have a travel signature issues on or after February 1st). Please check the date of the most recent signature on your document to determine if you need a new travel signature.
Updated version of I-20/DS-2019:
Beginning 26 June 2015, SEVP redesigned forms I-20 and DS-2019. All F and J visa holders (including scholars) are required to obtain the updated version of their form by July 1, 2016. This will be the last chance for students and scholars to obtain their updated documents on the spot. The new version of the I-20/DS-2019 does not have a bar code on the right side. Attached you will find images with the new and old I-20 and DS-2019 versions.
Even if you are not traveling, please stop by for a quick "visa status check-up" to help you make sure you are in compliance with your status.
