National Day of Silence

National Day of Silence

What will you do to end the silence?

The National Day of Silence on April 15 is a pledge not to speak for one day to protest the bullying of LGBT youth in schools. The silence also honors those students who have been killed or died as a result of bullying.

Tuesday, April 12 & Thursday, April 14 – 11:30 a.m.- 2:00 p.m

Information Desk in Webb Center

Meet offices on campus that are working to reduce bullying and microaggressions toward the LGBT community. Enjoy refreshments while taking the pledge to be silent.

Thursday, April 14- 6:00 p.m.

Quad Field

A candlelight vigil will be held in honor of the LGBT lives lost to bullying. Members of the Monarch community are invited to share their experiences with bullying following the vigil and take the pledge to be silent.

Co-sponsored by Counseling Services, Health Promotion, ODU Out, Office of Intercultural Relations, Safe Space, the Starving Artists, and Women’s Center.
