Faces of Diversity across our Global Campus
May 17-18
Ted Constant Convocation Center
Each year, the Center for Learning and Teaching’s (CLT’s) Summer Institute offers faculty members a refreshing chance to share, reflect, analyze, and learn from one another about what works best in higher education.
The 2016 Faculty Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning’s topic is Faces of Diversity across our Global Campus.
The Institute will begin on Tuesday morning with a keynote address offered by Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, III, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME (2012) and one of America’s Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report (2008). View his TED Talk about underrepresented students in the sciences and in engineering: 4 pillars of college success in science.
Throughout the two days of the Institute, workshops, panels, papers, and posters will be presented, and lunchtime and between-session conversations will abound as faculty share lessons they have learned about including an awareness of diversity in their courses.
CLT's Summer Institute is open to faculty from across the Commonwealth, so if you have friends at other universities, colleges, or community colleges who might enjoy participating in collegial discussions about diversity and its inclusion in higher education, please feel free to pass this invitation on to them, as well.
For more information and to register to participate in the Summer Institute, please visit the Faculty Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning’s website or contact CLT at clt@odu.edu or at 683-3172.
