Welcome: New Director of Student Outreach & Support (SOS)
Old Dominion’s Office of Student Outreach and Support (formerly Student Ombudsperson Services), a Unit of Student Engagement & Enrollment Services, has named Denisse Thillet as its director of Student Outreach and Support.
Earning her Master of Arts in Student Personnel Administration from New York University, Thillet is a former assistant director for Fraternity and Sorority Life and most recently served as an academic advisor for the Center for Major Exploration at Old Dominion and the Director of Hispanic and Latino Outreach at Hampton University.
In her new role as director, Thillet will support students who experience administrative, academic or personal road blocks and will work to ensure that Monarchs are able to discuss their issues and concerns in a caring and supportive environment.
The Office of Student Outreach and Support (SOS) serves as a resource to ensure that students have someone to listen to their concerns. SOS will help students understand University policy and explore options to assist with resolving issues that may impact them academically or personally. Additionally, SOS will serve as a hub by collaborating with departments across campus to ensure that students, faculty, and staff are aware of the support services offered across ODU.
