Teaching a Web conferencing (WebEx) course this Summer or Fall? Workshops 4/6 and 4/7

Teaching a Web conferencing (WebEx) course this Summer or Fall?
Two workshops for you.

If you’re teaching a live distance course this Spring,
you’ll want to participate in one or both of these informative workshops:

Web Conferencing (WebEx): Logistics
Wednesday, April 6 from 10am-noon in Gornto 222

Web Conferencing (WebEx): Engaging Students
Thursday, April 7 from 10am-noon in Gornto 101
Wednesday, April 20 from 10am-noon in Gornto 101

The Center for Learning and Teaching invites you to a two-part series designed to offer you guidance for engaging your students and managing the administrative details of your live distance learning course.

In the Logistics workshop (4/6), you’ll be offered suggestions for managing your distance learning course and the accompanying web conferencing tools.  We will review the physical locations from which you can teach; identify Web conferencing functions and resources; briefly discuss testing and student assessment, grade distribution and course evaluation; provide an orientation to ODU office staff at partner community colleges; review the extended syllabus design; and briefly discuss copyright and fair use.

In the Engaging Students workshop (4/7, 4/20), you’ll learn new methods for incorporating web conferencing into your courses.  You can use web conferences for classes or small groups, or to hold online office hours or review sessions, or to share presentations or the talks of guest speakers, and for recorded instructional materials.  In this workshop, you’ll identify one or more web conferencing activities to implement in one or more of your courses, create an online meeting and learn to provide access information to your students, and use features such as sharing your computer screen and recording a short session.

Tips for optimizing the display of your content will also be discussed.

The workshops will be available, as well, via live two-way video, for instructors who cannot participate on the main campus.

Registration is required for each workshop:   Log in at http://clt.odu.edu and use the Center for Learning and Teaching’s teachODU module or click EVENTS in the top navigation.

For more information or a one-on-one session: Send email to clt@odu.edu or phone 683-3172.
