Emergency Notification System Test/Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, 3/22 at 9:45am

Old Dominion University will be simultaneously testing its emergency notification system (ENS) and participating in the Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, 22 March at 9:45am. The approximately 15-minute drill will involve activation of the ODU Alerts text messaging and phone call systems, desktop computer and digital signage override messaging, student/faculty/staff email, the ODU website, and outdoor loudspeakers (Norfolk campus, designed for exterior notification only).

While physical participation in the tornado drill is optional, please consider “going through the motions” by temporarily ceasing normal activities, moving to a substantial internal building area free of windows, crouching low and covering the head and neck, and sheltering-in-place until the all-clear is issued.

For more information, including ODU Alerts registration insructions, see http://www.odu.edu/about/odu-publications/insideodu/2016/03/17/morenews2. Questions? Contact the Jared Hoernig, Associate Director of Emergency Management, at (757) 683-5116 or jhoernig@odu.edu.

Thank you for your participation in this important safety and preparedness activitity.
