PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY PANEL DISCUSSION (attachment)
As primary season approaches its climax, Tuesday, March 1 looms as a huge day for candidates seeking the Republican and Democratic nominations for president.
On Super Tuesday, Virginia will be one of 10 states to host a primary or caucus in the hotly contested races. To tee up the action in the hours before ballots are counted that day, six Old Dominion University' faculty members will take part in a presidential primary panel discussion.
The panel will speak in the Burgess Room, 9024 Batten Arts and Letter Building, from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Geography and Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. It is free and open to the public.
Panelists include G. William Whitehurst, Kaufman Lecturer of Public Affairs and a former member of the U.S. Congress, Jonathan Leib, associate professor of political science; Shenita Brazelton and Joshua Zingher, assistant professors of political science, Jesse Richman, associate professor of political science; and moderator Glen Sussman, professor of political science.
Topics to be discussed include an analysis of the early primary results; a discussion of the candidates, campaigns and issues; an explanation of the primary and caucus process; and predictions for Super Tuesday and beyond.
