Free Student Worker Help!!

Does your office need student workers to assist with the daily functions of the department? Here’s how we can help!

Federal Work Study:

  •   Federally funded program that employs over 260 students per year!
  •   Participates work based on their FWS Award amount.
  •   In order to receive FWS students, you must first submit request to fws@odu.edu
  •   Once approved, departments can post positions on CareerLink (we can help with this!)
  •   Students apply to departmental positions, and supervisors can choose who to hire out of a candidate pool after Interview and Selection process
  •      (Only those students awarded FWS, can apply to your position posted)
  • The minimum pay rate is $7.25 per hour, however supervisors set pay rate for students based on E1S standards
  • Remember it’s completely free to your department!

Learn and Earn Advantage Program (LEAP):

  • LEAP aims to employ students in their Freshmen (LEAP1) and Sophomore (LEAP2) year within a career related position
  • Students must first be awarded LEAP in their financial aid package
  • In order to request LEAP students, follow the link to submit a job description for your LEAP student    https://odu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6oncV7PznSyGmnH
  • LEAP 1 students earn $8 per hour, and as a LEAP 2 student earn $9 per hour
  • Students work around 8-15 hours per week.
  • Remember, it’s completely free to your department!
