Information Sessions Regarding Upcoming FLSA Changes!

On December 1, 2016, there will be changes to the overtime rule under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  One change to this regulation is that the minimum salary threshold for an employee to be exempt from overtime will change from $23,660 ($455 per week) to $47,476 ($913 per week).

The Department of Human Resources will have information sessions for employees and hiring managers regarding the upcoming changes. These sessions will focus on the following information:

  • Definition and History of FLSA
  • Current Regulation vs. New Regulation
  • Rationale behind change
  • Individual and Team Impact

To learn more about changes to FLSA, please plan to attend an information session on one of the following dates and times:

November 16th 9:00 am – 10:30am

December 6th     9:00 am – 10:30am

December 8th     9:00 am – 10:30am

December 14th  9:00 am – 10:30am

December 20th  9:00 am – 10:30am

 

Registration for the training is required.  Below are details on how to sign up:

  1. Click on https://register.odu.edu/flexibleregistration/index.jsp?frc=GENERAL
  2. Login (Your username is your UIN. Your Password is your birthdate: MMDDYY)
  3. Search
  • Select WINTER 2016 Continuing Ed from the first drop down menu
  • Type ZFLS in the second search box
  1. Select the date and time that you would like to attend, and click ADD.
