Learn to Present Like a Pro
<p class="Body"> Are you an early career scientist seeking to <b>improve your presentation skills</b>? Do you suffer from stage fright? Have you been advised to Speak Louder? Stop Pacing?<span style=""> </span>Slow Down? Stand Up Straighter? Be More Confident? Do these tasks border on the impossible, especially when you are most concerned about the science?</p> <p class="Body"> We are recruiting <b>PhD students and post-doctoral investigators in the sciences </b>for a 5-week workshop. You will learn how to give better talks by practicing the physical and vocal exercises that actors use to combat stage fright, project in large auditoriums, stand still, and project positive stage presence. You will also learn to take on the confidence of the professional scientist.</p> <p class="Body"> We will meet five times this summer <strong>(Tuesdays--3, 10, 17, 24 June and 1 July) from 9 am until 3:00 pm</strong>.<span style=""> We will meet on the ODU campus in the University Theatre and </span><b>lunch will be provided.</b> Most importantly, however, you will improve your presentation skills among a group of supportive, early career scientists who all want the same thing you do: <b>To gain confidence in presentation!</b><span style=""> </span></p> <p class="Body"> You must commit to attending all sessions, but more importantly, you must commit to engaging wholeheartedly in your development and the development of others.
