The discussion includes factors related to the worst-case heating for 1) external fixation devices, 2) multi-component orthopedic devices, and 3) pacemaker or ICD leads. Modeling and experimental methods will be presented for efficient evaluation of MRI induced heating for these devices.

Biography: Dr. Ji Chen is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Houston. Dr. Chen’s research interests include Microprocessor full chip-level interconnect extraction, wireless communication system on chip (SOC) interconnect characterization, computer system EMC/EMI modeling, signal integrity analysis, and bioelectromagnetics with applications to MRI systems Computational electromagnetic.
