Understanding the characteristics of UWB signals is best suited in time domain, however, there is a need of frequency domain approach to utilize the spectral content. The necessity and applicability of these two approaches will be illustrated with examples. Moreover, the beauty of this novel area in exploring the wealth of information in hidden objects and bio-electrics will be discussed.

Shahid Ahmed received his Ph.D. in “Computational Modeling of Electromagnetic Pulse Simulators”. He has worked on various international laboratories with industrial and academic environments. For several years, he has worked on high-performance computing, development of computer codes for modeling and simulation of pulsed power and electromagnetic systems, chip design, signal integrity, shielding, packaging, and plasmas. His recent works involved particle accelerator design optimization, collective effects in charged particle-beam propagation in matter, space-charge physics, radio-frequency cavity, gas breakdown, plasma processing using high power RF. He has published several articles in world class journals/conference proceedings and offered various invited talks worldwide. He is also a reviewer of various prestigious journals and the recipient of 2013 IEEE Hampton Roads Outstanding Engineer. Dr. Ahmed is a senior member of the IEEE, and the Chair of IEEE HR Section.
