Call for Proposals -- 2014 Faculty Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning

<p> The Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) at Old Dominion University invites all research, teaching, and adjunct faculty from Old Dominion University and from across Virginia to attend and/or to present at the 2014 Faculty Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning.&nbsp;</p> <p> Submit your proposal now (by March 31) to present your best teaching practices at CLT&rsquo;s 16<sup>th</sup> Annual Faculty Summer Institute, <strong>Online and Face-to-Face Teaching: Realizing the Best of Both Worlds</strong>, at Webb Center on May 20-21.</p> <p> <strong>Chris Dede</strong>, the Timothy E. Wirth Professor in Learning Technologies at Harvard&rsquo;s Graduate School of Education, is the keynote speaker.&nbsp; Dr. Dede&rsquo;s fields of scholarship include emerging technologies, policy, and leadership.&nbsp; In 2007, he was honored by Harvard University as an outstanding teacher, and in 2011 he was named a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association.</p> <p> This year&rsquo;s Institute is organized around five themes.&nbsp; Each theme may include presentations of papers, panel discussions, roundtable discussions, or workshops. We are seeking presenters who are willing to share their personal teaching and learning journeys, including both ups and downs.&nbsp; The themes include:</p> <p> &middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Faculty Learning Communities: Sharing Ideas to Realize the Best of Both Worlds</strong></p> <p> &middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Reflecting About Your Own Teaching Practices: Your Personal Transition toward Online&nbsp;Environments</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p> &middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Involving Your Students:&nbsp; An Active Learning Approach</strong></p> <p> &middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Course Design: Strategies for both Face-to-Face and Online Teaching</strong> &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p> &middot;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Workshop: Teaching and Learning Strategies or Hands-on Technologies</strong></p> <p> Submit your proposal by March 31 to present a paper, to participate in a panel discussion of your colleagues, or to lead a roundtable discussion or workshop at the Institute. &nbsp;Accepted proposals will be announced in early April.</p> <p> Details about the themes, session types, forms for submitting proposals and further details for registering to attend are available online:</p> <p align="center"> <a href="http://blog.clt.odu.edu/cltevents/events/si14/">CLT Faculty Summer Institute<br /> Online and Face-to-Face Teaching:&nbsp; Realizing the Best of Both Worlds</a></p> <p> Or, for more information, contact Susan Boze:&nbsp; (757) 683-3172 or <a href="mailto:sboze@odu.edu">sboze@odu.edu</a>.&nbsp;</p>
