Participants in this past CLT’s Faculty Summer Institute on Teaching and Learning asked for more information about several topics, so the Connect with Colleagues series, this season, offers a closer look at Institute topics.

The first to engage in this semester’s Connect with Colleagues series is Jack Robinson, whose topic will be “Formative Assessment: Teachers and Students Using Information to Improve Learning.”

Dr. Robinson’s presentation will cover basic perspectives and practices on the ways in which assessment can be used to promote learning. He will summarize research that supports the use of formative assessment, discuss selected practices that can be used during instruction, and engage colleagues in sharing related ideas and practices that they have used to enhance student learning.

Dr. Robinson has been involved in the field of assessment for more than 35 years. He teaches classroom assessment at the graduate level and has been actively involved with national and international experts in the field for several years. He has conducted research and funded projects with several school districts to facilitate teachers’ more effective use of assessment to promote student learning and has used these experiences to form both a practical and theoretical perspective of what works in the classroom.

You are cordially invited to join in this discussion. Bring your colleagues!
