I-9 Paperwork for International Students

<p> <strong>Reminder</strong> - Please <strong>do not </strong>do I-9 employment paperwork for&nbsp;international students&nbsp;on non-immigrant visas in your department.&nbsp; They are required&nbsp;to do all employment&nbsp;paperwork in International Student &amp; Scholar Services as we monitor their immigration status,&nbsp;authorize their&nbsp;employment, and determine whether they are a tax resident or non-resident alien for tax purposes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p> The department is responsible for the E-1S or the 108 depending upon how the position is funded (by the University or the ODU Research Foundation) and ensuring they are registered for the correct number of academic credit hours to work.&nbsp; The funding information must be included in the employment offer letter.&nbsp; Please see attached for additional guidance and let me know if you have any questions.</p> <p> Thank you!&nbsp;</p> <p> Emma Studer, International Student &amp; Scholar Services&nbsp; (e-mail:&nbsp; <a href="mailto:intlstu@odu.edu">intlstu@odu.edu</a>)&nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p>
