FACULTY/STAFF MENTORS NEEDED FOR SUMMER OUTDOOR PROGRAM
<p> Want to spend a week of summer backpacking, rock climbing, or surfing? Why not take your adventure with the First Ascent Program (formerly known as T.E.N.T.S) and have a positive influence on incoming ODU students!</p> <p> The Outdoor Adventure Program is hosting a freshman wilderness orientation program called <a href="http://odu.edu/life/sports-and-fitness/programs/outdoor-adventure-programs"><strong><u>First Ascent</u></strong> </a>this summer, part of the Monarch Experience Pick One program. We are planning four trips, each running 4 days including backpacking/rock climbing expeditions in Shenandoah National Park, and surfing in the Outer Banks.</p> <p> <strong>The Expedition dates are:</strong></p> <p> <strong>July 16 – July 19 – Backpacking/Rock Climbing</strong></p> <p> <strong>July 22 – July 25 – Surfing</strong></p> <p> <strong>July 30 – August 2 –Backpacking/Rock Climbing</strong></p> <p> <strong>August 5 – August 8 –Surfing </strong></p> <p> We are currently recruiting one staff/faculty member to attend each trip to bring a different perspective to the experience and offer a <strong>mentoring opportunity</strong> to the students on the trip. As I’m sure you are aware, the more connections the students make the better their experience and retention at the University.</p> <p> I am writing to see if <strong>you</strong> have an interest in participating in one of the trips.
