ODU Theatre Presents A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

<p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Old Dominion University Theatre will close its spring 2013 season with a new take on a classic favorite, &ldquo;A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream.&rdquo;</p> <p> Performances will be held at 8 p.m. April 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20, at the Goode Theatre. An additional matinee show is scheduled for April 13<sup>th</sup> at 2 p.m</p> <p> &ldquo;A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream&rdquo; is directed by Chris Hanna is an Associate Professor of Theatre at ODU and it the current Artistic Director of the Virginia Stage Company.&nbsp; He has over thirty years of theatre experience and has directed over thirty performances at the two institutions and has provided artistic guidance to almost one hundred shows</p> <p> &ldquo;A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream&rdquo; is sure to delight all with love, lust, and adventure! Shakespeare&nbsp; introduced the tumultuous love lives and restricting social rules, but ODU is revamping the tale!&nbsp; The Victorian court is shifted to a classic cruise ship and will change the rules of the traditional forest.&nbsp; Hermia is resistant to the romantic life that&rsquo;s set before her and tries to flee from it for the one of her choosing.&nbsp; Her rejected beau trails the forbidden duo in hot pursuit, but the adventure escalates when some mischievous and meddlesome characters have their own surprises.&nbsp; Experience the tangled web of romance and intrigue in a new vivid setting!</p> <p> &ldquo;A Midsummer Night&rsquo;s Dream&rdquo; ends the first full season of performances hosted at the Goode Theatre, the latest addition to the ODU Arts District. The theatre officially opened last April with a reception to honor benefactors David and Susan Goode. It was also the venue for the progressive show, &ldquo;Metamorphoses,&rdquo; which fully demonstrated how a cutting-edge space allows for flexibility of design and performance that inspires creativity.</p> <p> The Goode Theatre is located at 4608 Monarch Way in ODU&rsquo;s University Village.
