4/17 - Gay Cultural Studies Spring Lecture

<p> Old Dominion Gay Cultural Studies 2013 Spring Lecture</p> <p> <strong>&ldquo;The Making of LGBT Hampton Roads History: A Picture Book in Progress&rdquo;</strong></p> <p> Please join Dr. Charles Ford, Professor and Chair of the Norfolk State University History Department as he discusses his work on a unique public project illuminating the rich history of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community here in Hampton Roads. In his lecture, Dr. Ford will discuss the evolution of the project beginning with its inception as well as it&rsquo; extraordinary process of collaboration with other scholars and community members in procuring photos and memories in the continued development of his book, <em>The Evolution of LGBT Communities in Hampton Roads, Virginia. </em>The project uses photographic and ethnographic narratives of the region, chronicling time periods that go as far back as Stonewall and up to the present. &nbsp;The lecture is open to the public.</p> <p> A reception will follow.</p> <p> <strong>When: 5:30PM, April 17<sup>th</sup></strong></p> <p> <strong>Where: Batten Arts &amp; Letters Building, Burgess Room, 9024</strong></p>
