Dr. DeVitis will demonstrate how to use graphic organizers to assess prior knowledge, to document learning, to address misconceptions, and to track students’ understanding of concepts and their relationships.</p> <p> Linda Irwin-DeVitis, Dean of the College of Education, has co-authored a book on this topic: “50 Graphic Organizers for Reading, Writing, and More.” </p> <p> Irwin-DeVitis began her career teaching in middle and high schools in rural school districts in Florida and Louisiana, and then moved on to hold faculty positions at SUNY Binghamton and Oneonta and at the University of Tennessee. She was associate dean for programs at the University of Louisville College of Education and Human Development. Directly prior to joining us at ODU, she was dean of the Lounsbury School of Education at Georgia College and State University.</p> <p> You are cordially invited to Connect with Colleagues on the topic of concept-mapping.</p>
