March is Women's History Month! Celebrate with us at these events!

<p> <em>The Women&#39;s Center and our co-sponsors have put together the following programs to celebrate Women&#39;s History Month 2013. We hope you will join us for any or many of these exciting programs!</em></p> <p> <strong>Girl With the Dragon Tattoo: Book discussion</strong></p> <p> Book Discussion</p> <p> March 19, 2013, 12:30p.m.&ndash;2:00p.m.</p> <p> Virginia Beach Higher Education Center: Room 158</p> <p> AND</p> <p> Main Campus: Gornto bldg., Room 222</p> <p> You may have seen the movie, but did you read the book? Now you can do both! Steig Larsson&rsquo;s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has inspired film adaptations, controversy, criticism and conversation. Join us for an ODU conversation during our book discussion and/or the film screening &amp; panel discussion.</p> <p> Refreshments will be provided at both events and sites.</p> <p> These events will be video conferenced and are co-sponsored by the Women&rsquo;s Center and the Virginia Beach Higher Education Center.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>A Celebration of Women in Music</strong></p> <p> March 20</p> <p> 7:30 pm</p> <p> Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Bldg., Chandler Recital Hall</p> <p> An evening celebrating the musical achievements of women throughout the world. The ladies of Sigma Alpha Iota will delight us with pieces written and performed by women.</p> <p> Co-sponsored by: Sigma Alpha Iota</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>LUNAFEST</strong></p> <p> March 27</p> <p> Reception &amp; Raffle: 6:30pm</p> <p> Showtime: 7:30pm</p> <p> University Theatre, 4600 Hampton Blvd.</p> <p> An evening of short films made by and about women. All proceeds will benefit The Breast Cancer Fund and the YWCA of South Hampton Roads. Be sure to arrive early to participate in our raffle for great local prizes! Raffle tickets will be sold at the event for $1. Tickets are $5 with Student ID, $10 for general admission and $15 at the door. Tickets will be sold prior to the show at the Webb Center Information Desk.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>Feminist Activist Fair</strong></p> <p> March 28</p> <p> 12:30pm&ndash;2:00pm</p> <p> North Mall, Webb Center</p> <p> Want to get involved? Stop by to learn about volunteer, internships, and employment opportunities with local organizations promoting social justice, equality and empowerment for women and girls.</p> <p> Co-sponsored by: the Women&rsquo;s Center and the Women&rsquo;s Studies Department</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>Women&rsquo;s History Poetry Slam</strong></p> <p> March 28</p> <p> 7:00pm</p> <p> Mills Godwin, Room 101</p> <p> <strong>Calling all writers! </strong>In honor of Women&rsquo;s History, Black Student Alliance will be holding a Poetry Slam. Current ODU student poets must write and perform an original piece on a topic relating to women&rsquo;s history and women&rsquo;s rights. The piece must be 3 to 5 minutes in length. A prize will be given to the best poets in first, second and third place. Entries must be submitted by March 21, 2013 via email to <a href="mailto:bsaodu@gmail.com">bsaodu@gmail.com</a>.
