Army, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard Tuition Assistance Programs Suspended

The Air Force and Coast Guard have joined the Army and Marine Corps in suspending new enrollments in their respective Military Tuition Assistance programs. Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard students will no longer be permitted to submit new requests for Tuition Assistance. However, those currently enrolled in courses approved for Tuition Assistance are not affected, and will be allowed to complete current course enrollment(s).

The Army suspended Tuition Assistance effective March 8, 2013. According to an Army spokesman, this change applies to all Soldiers, including the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. In the interim, Soldiers can continue to access their GI Bill benefits, if applicable, either the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) or the Post 9/11 GI Bill, or use other funding sources (i.e. grants, scholarships, or Army National Guard Soldiers using state Tuition Assistance where available). Soldiers should contact their local education centers with questions and to get updates. Updated information will also be posted to www.goarmyed.com.

The Air Force and Coast Guard TA programs were suspended effective March 11th for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Navy was still approving TA for qualified sailors as of mid-day March 14, 2013. If and when Navy announces a change in status, we will advise.

If students have any questions about Service specific TA policies, they should contact their military Education offices.

Until TA is resumed, military members may wish to consider other funding sources, such as their GI Bill benefits, if eligible, or other funding sources (i.e. grants, scholarships, or Army National Guard Soldiers using state Tuition Assistance where available).
